FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Award-Winning "Infinite Wave" Installation Illuminates the Flows of Water and Time in Tainan's Yuejin Port

Chao Lin Cheng's "Infinite Wave" has garnered international acclaim by securing the Bronze A' Design Award in the 2025 Lighting Projects and Light Art Design category. The installation, showcased at Yuejin Port in Tainan, Taiwan, from January to March 2024, stands out for its unique synthesis of art, technology, and local culture. Crafted from interwoven optical fibers and employing advanced computational design and laser cutting technologies, "Infinite Wave" transforms the intangible qualities of light into a tangible, immersive experience.

Inspired by the perpetual flow of water and the passage of time, the installation's Mobius strip folding structure explores visual changes in topology and the interaction between lines, surfaces, and volumes. As day transitions into night, the piece evolves-natural and artificial light blend, guiding visitors through shifting perceptions of space and time. Crimson rays reminiscent of blood gradually illuminate the contours, while multidimensional light waves intertwine, creating a mesmerizing, ever-changing spectacle.

"Infinite Wave" also highlights the integration of art and local industry, utilizing Taiwan's manufacturing capabilities to realize its complex form. The project overcame significant technical challenges, including the precise orientation and assembly of metal units using three-dimensional laser cutting, and the innovative use of optical fibers as both structure and medium. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the installation, experiencing a journey from blur to clarity as light guides their exploration and reflection within the space.
