Award-Winning "Tranquility" Project Showcases Minimalist Harmony and Personalized Interior Design in Tianjin

The "Tranquility" project, designed by acclaimed interior designer Jianguo Wu, has been honored with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for 2025. Located in Tianjin, China, this 290-square-meter four-bedroom residence exemplifies a philosophy of minimalism and tranquility, translating the reserved and cultured nature of its owners into a living space that is both elegant and deeply personal. The project commenced in March 2023 and reached completion in March 2024, with final photography conducted in April 2024.

Drawing inspiration from the owners' calm and modest demeanor, Wu crafted an interior that prioritizes simplicity without sacrificing detail. The design employs a palette dominated by gray and white tones, complemented by black metal aluminum panels, walnut veneer, and art boards. Notably, the walnut veneer features intricate carvings, infusing the minimalist environment with subtle sophistication. Curved elements are seamlessly integrated to soften structural rigidity, most prominently in the living room and main balcony, resulting in a harmonious and fluid spatial experience.

Functionality is thoughtfully addressed throughout the residence. The original floor plan was largely preserved, with selective removal of non-load bearing walls to improve traffic flow, particularly in corridors and the master bedroom. Recognizing the owners' needs as pet enthusiasts, Wu transformed a bedroom near the entrance into a dedicated pet room, complete with an en suite bathroom and direct fish tank plumbing. A concealed door, blending with the walnut entryway, ensures privacy and minimizes disturbances. These tailored solutions, combined with meticulous craftsmanship, distinguish "Tranquility" as a benchmark for personalized, high-quality residential design.
