YL Interior Design has transformed a ten-year-old, 99.1-square-meter apartment in Taichung City, Taiwan, into "Quite Dew"-a serene, light-filled residence designed for a young family and their newborn, earning the project a Bronze A' Design Award in 2025 for its innovative, health-conscious, and child-friendly approach.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
"Quite Dew" by YL Interior Design reimagines a dated apartment into a nurturing, contemporary sanctuary tailored for a young couple and their child. The project's guiding vision was to create a safe, hypoallergenic, and easy-to-maintain environment that encourages both adult relaxation and child development. By removing the partition between the kitchen and social area and installing a sliding glass door, the designers maximized natural light while maintaining practical separation, transforming the once-dark interior into a bright, welcoming space.
Distinctive features include arched ceilings and curved walls that soften transitions between rooms, enhancing safety for children and lending a gentle, organic flow throughout the home. The dedicated gaming area for adults introduces a bold, contrasting color palette, while high-quality soundproofing materials ensure tranquility for all family members. Thoughtful touches, such as whiteboard paint in the hallway and a chalkboard in the playroom, foster creativity and learning, making every corner of the home both functional and inspiring.
Material selection was central to the project's success: artistic paints, solid wood veneers, sound-absorbing cotton, and large tiles were chosen for their durability, aesthetic appeal, and health benefits. Storage solutions are seamlessly integrated, utilizing space beneath cabinets and behind sofas to accommodate the needs of a growing family. The overall design draws inspiration from the gentle care parents provide, with soft wood tones, stone textures, and refined lighting details creating a harmonious balance between lively daytime activity and peaceful nighttime retreat. Completed in April 2023, "Quite Dew" stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design in enhancing everyday life.
