FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Stephy Teng, renowned for her thoughtful approach to workspace design, has been recognized with the Iron A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award for her work on the Sime Darby Kia office in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. The project, completed in February 2024, was commissioned as part of Sime Darby's re-entry into the Taiwanese market, with a brief to create an office environment that balances global sensibilities with local cultural nuances.
Spanning 859.5 square meters over two floors, the office is meticulously planned to house six distinct departments. Each floor features dedicated pantries, window-side lounge areas, and flexible seating arrangements to encourage both relaxation and informal meetings. Lower partitions replace traditional high dividers, fostering open communication and teamwork, while wood grain and white finishes reflect the company's identity and create a bright, welcoming atmosphere. A 34-person meeting room equipped with high-speed connectivity and adjustable partitions ensures the space remains adaptable to various needs.
The design prioritizes natural light, with glass partitions and indirect lighting enhancing openness and brightness throughout the workspace. Materials were carefully selected for their eco-friendly and fire-resistant properties, including low-formaldehyde woods, glass, and gradient carpets that add vibrancy to key areas. The layout not only supports current operational requirements but is also flexible enough to accommodate future growth as Sime Darby Kia expands in Taiwan. Employees have reported increased satisfaction, noting the improved natural lighting, ventilation, and overall professional image, which also impresses visiting clients and partners.
Teng's approach was informed by in-depth research into the company's culture and international trends, resulting in a space that fosters collaboration, creativity, and a strong sense of shared purpose. The project's success is further underscored by its recognition at the A' Design Award, which celebrates practical, innovative, and industry-leading design solutions that contribute positively to the workplace and the wider community.
