Harvest Interior Design's "Photosynthesis" project, completed in July 2023 in Taiwan, has been honored with a Silver A' Design Award for its creative use of natural light, innovative storage solutions, and harmonious blend of modern style and family functionality, redefining the possibilities of compact residential living.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
"Photosynthesis," designed by Yu-Chia Chang of Harvest Interior Design, is a 92.5-square-meter residence in Taipei City that exemplifies the art of maximizing space and light for a modern nuclear family. The project, completed in July 2023, was conceived for a couple and their two children, with the goal of creating a tranquil, functional, and visually expansive home. Large windows flood the interior with natural light, inspiring the project's name and guiding the design philosophy toward openness and serenity.
The residence stands out for its thoughtful integration of storage and circulation. To address the family's substantial storage needs, the designer combined the entrance cabinet, TV wall, and shelving into a seamless unit, utilizing vertical space to keep the home organized. Glass partitions dissolve boundaries between rooms, enhancing the sense of spaciousness and allowing light to permeate the social areas. The semi-open kitchen and blurred division between living and dining areas foster flexibility and interaction, while a glass-walled study provides a quiet retreat without sacrificing connectivity to the rest of the home.
Material choices and detailing further distinguish "Photosynthesis." The palette of walnut, white, and light gray, paired with ultra-realistic wood grain printing and moru glass, creates a calm, sophisticated atmosphere. Practical features such as a rotating shoe rack, bunk bed with drawer stairs, and an extended desk maximize utility in every corner. Curved edging and minimalist lines lend a timeless modernity, while the interplay of transparency and reflection opens the interior to distant views, making the home a peaceful sanctuary for its residents. The project's excellence in design and innovation has been recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for 2025.
