Ray Yang's Xinxiuli Headquarters project, completed in May 2023 in Ningbo, China, has been honored with the Silver A' Design Award for its innovative, sustainable, and culturally inspired office design that integrates smart technology, corporate heritage, and urban context to create a dynamic workspace for Samsonite Group.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ray Yang, Co-director and Design Director of K&H International, has received the prestigious Silver A' Design Award for his Xinxiuli Headquarters project, an office space for Samsonite Group located in Ningbo, China. Completed in May 2023, the 3,000-square-meter headquarters exemplifies a harmonious blend of corporate heritage, local culture, and modern sustainability. Drawing inspiration from the winding Yongjiang River and the elegant curves of the Samsonite logo, Yang's design infuses the workspace with fluidity, natural light, and a sense of openness that reflects both the company's global vision and its urban roots.
The project stands out for its commitment to green and people-oriented design, achieving LEED Gold certification through close collaboration with sustainability consultants. Material selection played a crucial role, with floors and ceilings echoing themes of depth and light, while carpets and stonework evoke the imagery of sea and coastline. The office features intelligent lighting systems, electronic atomized glass, adjustable desks, and smart conference room reservation systems, creating a flexible and efficient environment tailored for the new generation of professionals.
Spatial planning was guided by research into employee needs and work modes, resulting in an understated yet elegant management office and an open, collaborative employee area. The oval conference room, positioned as an "island" at the heart of the reception, maximizes natural light and panoramic views of Ningbo's skyline, blurring the boundary between indoors and outdoors. The design not only supports productivity and well-being but also embodies Samsonite's motto, "expect innovation," while serving as a model for sustainable, culturally resonant office spaces in international contexts.
