Arc of Harmony: Award-Winning Curved Residential Interior Design by Lo Shih-Cheng in Taipei

Lo Shih-Cheng's "Arc of Harmony" has been honored with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category for 2025. Completed in February 2024 in Taipei, Taiwan, this residential project stands out for its innovative use of curved lines and natural materials, creating a living environment that prioritizes both aesthetic pleasure and ergonomic comfort. The design's flowing arcs connect ceilings, floors, and walls, guiding the eye and movement throughout the space while fostering a sense of tranquility and unity.

Inspired by the visual and experiential appeal of curved forms, Lo Shih-Cheng sought to create a home that resonates with the natural posture and movement of its inhabitants. The project divides upper and lower floors into public and private zones, using gentle arcs to elevate the living room and provide a stress-reducing visual experience. Materials such as stone plastic composite flooring, artistic coatings, and environmentally friendly paints enhance both the brightness and warmth of the space, while thoughtful details-like a tree-hole style log dining table and multifunctional staircase-optimize utility and display.

Arc of Harmony's design philosophy draws from Japanese wabisabi and Scandinavian simplicity, emphasizing sustainability, natural textures, and a harmonious relationship with the environment. The project overcame challenges in harmonizing light and color, replacing heavy traditional elements with geometric cut-outs and light-enhancing finishes. Through meticulous spatial planning and a blend of materials, forms, and colors, the design achieves a deep emotional resonance, connecting residents with nature and elevating the quality of home life.
