Evergreen Nexus: A Human-Centric, Biophilic Workspace Transformation in Malaysia

Sachi Design's Evergreen Nexus project reimagines a decades-old workspace in Kuala Lumpur, drawing inspiration from the vibrant layers of the local rainforest. Completed in March 2024, this 6,505 sqm office now features interconnected zones that mirror the forest floor, undergrowth, and canopy, each supporting different work styles and fostering both collaboration and focused productivity. The design's color palette of deep greens, rich browns, and tropical accents, paired with abundant live greenery and a striking vertical garden, creates a serene yet stimulating environment that blurs the line between indoors and nature.

Innovative features set Evergreen Nexus apart, including a reflective ceiling in the lobby to enhance spatial height, daylight and tree movement simulations in open voids, and digital waterfall displays that greet visitors with calming visuals. Live plants serve dual roles as privacy dividers and air purifiers, while natural textures and background rainforest sounds enrich the sensory experience. These elements not only address the building's original spatial constraints and lack of natural light but also promote user well-being, environmental stewardship, and a dynamic workplace culture.

The project's realization demanded creative solutions to overcome structural challenges and tight deadlines. Sachi Design utilized advanced technologies to open up confined spaces, introduced artificial daylight, and balanced aesthetics with functionality. On-site mock-ups and strategic planning ensured compliance with fire safety regulations and alignment with the client's vision for a green, health-conscious, and collaborative environment. The result is a modern, human-centric workspace that exemplifies innovation, sustainability, and adaptability, recognized with a Silver A' Design Award for its outstanding expertise and positive impact.
