Wei Zhang's Kyanyuan, a 1,600 square meter garden clubhouse located on the top floor of an old business building by the West Lake, offers a contemporary leisure space with a feeling of "A real hermit lives in the bustling place." Inspired by the poem "For a Guest" by Du Fu, the design embodies a quiet and low-profiled style, creating a tranquil escape amidst the bustling city.
The club is adorned with solid wood, tiles, cobblestones, and self-leveling cement, evoking an ethereal temperament reminiscent of an elegant Chinese painting. The fusion of traditional and modern elements, along with rich details, imbues the space with a sense of Zen and oriental charm.
When inside the club, guests can enjoy different sceneries that provide inner calm and harmony. The space layout is strict and orderly, with independent areas such as dining, tearoom, guest rooms, and office areas, each offering a sense of coherence. The indoor and outdoor courtyards complement each other, creating a scenic beauty.
The project, which began in March 2018, has overcome technical challenges in building renovation and greening coverage, ultimately earning the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2021 for its outstanding expertise and innovation.
