Jasmin Yi-Chu Shih and Lightwell transform a 50-year-old building into a unique retail experience, merging commerce, fashion, art, and nature.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rebirth Experiential Retail Store "24 Frames of Lightwell"

Jasmin Yi-Chu Shih and Lightwell have reimagined a 50-year-old building in Taipei, creating the "24 Frames of Lightwell" - an experiential retail store that seamlessly integrates commerce, fashion, art, and nature. This innovative project offers a fresh perspective on urban regeneration, providing a sustainable solution to walk-up apartment renovation with minimal environmental impact. The design utilizes a lightweight approach to construct "24 Frames" within the lightwell and facade, enhancing the interior environment and transforming visitors' perception of the surroundings.

The project's material selection and subtractive design operation breathe new life into the old building, highlighting the texture of the existing materials while incorporating modern elements such as "modern terrazzo panels" in the select shop. The restoration of the existing "terrazzo staircase" through oil-painting showcases the project's commitment to preserving the building's historical character.

Spanning 353 m2, "24 Frames of Lightwell" challenges traditional retail spaces, offering a unique blend of rebirth, renovation, and experiential retail. The project's successful realization in May 2020 after starting in April 2019 demonstrates the team's dedication to conservation and innovation.
