Yu Chien Chiang's Fiidesign Unveils Yappy Bookstore, a Multi-Bookstore Space in Taipei
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yu Chien Chiang, the creative mind behind Fiidesign, has unveiled the innovative Yappy Bookstore, a multi-bookstore space in Taipei, Taiwan. The design concept expresses the reality of time and space shuttle, redefining the traditional round building in southern China style into a contemporary literary space. The bookstore, awarded the Silver A' Design Award, seamlessly blends the old and the new, creating a magical field where time flows within the literary space.
Transforming the conditions of the old and abandoned space into advantages, Yappy Bookstore breaks through limitations and shortcomings. The huge beams and columns in the old-style buildings are replaced by obstacles in the eyes of the designer to a camera's frame, and the romantic banquet is performed in the frame, showing a retro atmosphere harmony. The texture of some old walls is preserved, and some of the surface cement is destroyed and buried in the original elements of the building to deconstruct, showing a more story side.
Utilizing vintage books, concrete, old window frames, bricks, and iron, the 450 M2 space is a fusion of history and modernity. The design carefully embeds clues for reading, with staggered and stacked ancient books and bricks, covered with concrete. The book becomes a carrier of space and time, revealing works that need to be excavated, presented with challenges through the different interfaces of books and red bricks and concrete.
