Luxeh, a hotel project designed by Ruidong Weng, brings modern living and inner peace together in the birthplace of Chinese Buddhism, Hangzhou.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ruidong Weng's Luxeh project, located in the West Lake scenic area, seamlessly integrates modern resort and commercial functions within the constraints of protecting the original architecture and building elevation. The design balances the demands of modern living with the need to retain the historical and cultural essence of the location.
The project involved the use of traditional techniques, such as the baking technique since the Song dynasty, to preserve and enhance the wooden components of the building elevation. Additionally, the design incorporated innovative solutions, such as utilizing narrow spaces for functional elements like wash basins and storage, and employing modularization to reduce material waste.
Throughout the design process, Ruidong Weng and his team faced challenges related to environmental protection and the preservation of historical materials. However, their dedication to blending modern materials with traditional elements resulted in a unique aesthetic that harmonizes with the natural surroundings.
