Japanese Noodle Restaurant Design by Takashi Yamamori

Award-winning designer Takashi Yamamori has unveiled "Kamimachi," a Japanese noodle restaurant located in the heart of Shanghai. The restaurant aims to spread Japanese noodle and food culture to China and the world, embodying the vision of its owner. Inspired by the Japanese style and elements, the design reflects the theme of "eating on a pier with a big roof," creating a unique and inviting atmosphere.

The design's unique feature lies in the use of white wood louvers, creating a comfortable and gentle space that encapsulates the essence of a Japanese veranda in a bustling metropolis. The balance between the movement of the city and the stillness of the interior space is a testament to the designer's creativity and vision.

Photographer Yuya Morii has beautifully captured the essence of this design, which was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021 for its outstanding and creatively ingenious approach to interior space, retail, and exhibition design. The restaurant was realized in January 2020, marking a significant milestone in the promotion of Japanese culinary culture in a global context.
