Yifan He's latest project, the Jstone Italian Kitchen and Bar, brings a contemporary Shanghai style to the historic Dongjiadu area, blending Chinese and Western cultures in a refined and elegant space overlooking the Huangpu River.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Located in the heart of the historic Dongjiadu area in Shanghai, the Jstone Italian Kitchen and Bar is a testament to the fusion of Chinese and Western cultures. Inspired by the classical architectural form of The Shikumen from the traditional Shanghai neighborhood, the space is reshaped with Art Deco details to create a new spatial tonality of contemporary Shanghai style. The project, led by designer Yifan He, was completed in a short timeframe from June to October 2021.
Situated at the Greenland Bund Center, the Jstone Italian Kitchen and Bar offers a unique dining experience, overlooking the Huangpu River and the iconic Bund coastline. The design utilizes bronze stainless steel, Ariston marble, Black galaxy marble, artistic coating, walnut veneer, leather, and wallpaper to create an exquisite dining environment that reflects the essence of Shanghai-style culture.
Yifan He's design pays homage to the first Catholic church in Shanghai, located next to the restaurant, by incorporating elegant and tasteful interior decoration details that combine Chinese and Western elements. The terrace of the restaurant provides a close-up view of the church, further enhancing the cultural significance of the space.
