Matheus Diniz Unveils Casa Una, a Multi-Purpose Community Center in Uberlandia, Brazil
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Renowned architect Matheus Diniz introduces Casa Una, a multi-purpose community center, set to open in April 2023 in Uberlandia, Brazil. Inspired by Brazilian Modernism and architect Severiano Porto, the 1099 square meter building serves as a focal point for a new mixed-use neighborhood, featuring a food hall, open auditorium, exhibition space, and office for the community association. Designed to integrate with the public park, Casa Una boasts a green roof and utilizes sustainable materials, passive cooling techniques, and lightweight vegetated roofing systems.
Constructed with laminated timber from certified sources, Casa Una's roof is composed of OSB panels and a vegetation system that aids in cooling the interior spaces. The building incorporates passive techniques such as cross ventilation and heat exhaust openings, while the exterior glass reduces solar heat gain. The project, which began in August 2018, is a testament to sustainable design and community engagement, reflecting Matheus Diniz's commitment to enhancing urban spaces.
Matheus Diniz, an award-winning architect known for his spatial sensibility, founded MDAD in 2012 and has since developed projects across various scales. His work has been featured in numerous publications, and he was honored with the grand prize for the 57th Annual Architects Awards of the Brazilian Institute of Architects. The unveiling of Casa Una marks another milestone in his illustrious career, showcasing his dedication to innovative and sustainable architectural design.
