Introducing the CIFI Donut Kindergarten, a groundbreaking project that harmoniously integrates architecture and landscape to create a three-dimensional space for children to play and learn.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Designed by Sun Hu, the CIFI Donut Kindergarten is a revolutionary concept that encourages children to explore and engage in physical activities within an interesting circular space. The design incorporates a tree in the main area, symbolizing a child's natural memory of childhood, and provides a three-dimensional flow for children to enjoy the sensation of flying around the tree. The roof space adds an element of thrill, allowing children to feel like they are playing in the air, providing them with a unique and enjoyable experience.
What sets the CIFI Donut Kindergarten apart is its attachment to a residential community, with one-third of the outdoor space located on the building's roof. This close relationship between landscape and architecture enriches the overall experience, offering a multi-level outdoor play tour that integrates interior and outdoor spaces while stimulating three-dimensional activity in the landscape space.
The realization of this innovative design involved advanced technology, such as using tapered beams to create a lighter roof structure and reducing the number of columns required for stabilization through a decorative ring. The resulting slide space offers a visually stunning spiral design that complements the traffic system of the flying gallery, providing a truly unique visual experience.
The CIFI Donut Kindergarten covers a landscape design area of 6,773 square meters and a building area of 4,172 square meters, offering a spacious and engaging environment for children to explore and interact.
Integrated in three dimensions, the architecture design and landscape elements ensure accessibility among multi-level roofs, creating a paradise for children to enjoy and learn. The project, located in Hefei, China, was completed between May 2019 and October 2019, following extensive research and creative problem-solving to overcome the challenges of integrating multiple specialties.
Sun Hu's exceptional design has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in Landscape Planning and Garden Design in 2020, showcasing outstanding expertise, innovation, and a remarkable level of excellence.
