Chien Ting Chen's Dry Salon renovation project, located in Taipei City, Taiwan, has been awarded the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2020 for its outstanding interior space, retail, and exhibition design.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chien Ting Chen's award-winning Dry Salon renovation project is a stunning transformation of a narrow, forty-year-old house into a modern commercial space. Inspired by the concept of an art salon, the project began with the operation of a small style café, interpreting classical elements with a modern touch. The reorganization and renovation of the basic construction were key to this project, resulting in a space that encourages imagination and creativity.
The project's unique features include the clever concealment of the outdoor air conditioner unit within a stylish grille, providing both aesthetics and convenience. Additionally, simple stone and wood blocks are strategically placed to allow users to define and use them as tables or chairs, while iron pieces near the wall are built like a swing, adding an element of playfulness to the space.
Technologically, the project focused on upgrading both the outdoor and indoor space quality, introducing transparent skylights to bring in natural light and create a sense of openness. The modern interpretation of classical beauty is evident throughout the space, from the external structure to the indoor circle chair, coffee table, and bar.
The entrance, featuring large glass French windows, fosters interaction between the indoor and outdoor spaces, creating a visual focal point. The minimalist and open design allows for free movement and interaction, whether seated at the bar or near the entrance.
Chien Ting Chen's Dry Salon renovation project is a testament to the successful fusion of classical and modern elements, creating a space that not only exudes artistic elegance but also functions seamlessly for its users.
