Ivy Café: A Distinctive Atmosphere Created with Cement Blocks and Miniature Ivy

Neda Mirani, a Master of Architecture from the University of Guilan, has unveiled her latest project, Ivy Café, located in Iran. The café's design is a testament to Mirani's innovative approach, as she successfully combined economic efficiency, fast implementation, and the creation of a distinctive atmosphere in the city. The project, which began in February 2020 and concluded in July 2020, is a Silver A' Design Award winner in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category.

The café's unique design is characterized by the prominent use of cement blocks, chosen for their abundance, affordability, modularity, and pure texture. Mirani's creative vision also incorporated the use of miniature ivy plants, adding a colorful and vibrant touch to the space. The selection of materials and the arrangement of the blocks not only contribute to the café's aesthetic appeal but also serve practical functions, showcasing the high capability of materials in creating space.

With a total area of 80 square meters, Ivy Café stands as a testament to Mirani's ability to turn constraints into opportunities. By focusing on the available resources in the project area, Mirani successfully addressed the design challenges, resulting in a space that not only meets economic and functional criteria but also enhances the overall design quality. The café's unique blend of materials and the thoughtful integration of living plant tissue alongside cement blocks exemplify Mirani's commitment to creating innovative and engaging spaces.
