Chih Yi Chen introduces the Health and Wellness Shelter, a groundbreaking medical clinic space, redefining community healthcare in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chih Yi Chen's Health and Wellness Shelter is a paradigm-shifting medical clinic space that challenges the traditional notions of clinical environments. The design aims to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, subverting the stereotype of cold and severe medical institutions. By integrating warm and comfortable hardware space planning with professional medical and health services, the clinic introduces a "high-quality health ecosystem" concept to the community.
One of the unique features of the design is the emphasis on prevention as the starting point for community health. The clinic's facade, predominantly made of large glass compartments, opens the space to the community and neighbors, welcoming natural light and creating a warmer and brighter environment. This design approach aims to reverse the traditional doctor-patient relationship and promote community health through prevention rather than just treatment.
The clinic's realization technology is centered around the use of walnut for the facade, waiting space walls, and the blood collection room, creating a white space with a warm texture. Additionally, the rattan-textured counter cabinets echo the brand identity of "big tree," symbolizing shelter and protection for the community's health.
With a focus on creating a comforting and calming environment, the design incorporates curved elements throughout the space, from the door frame to the medicine receiving window, guiding patients and neighbors into the consultation with a sense of peace and tranquility. The clinic's interior layout ensures safe and comfortable open waiting areas, addressing the need for social distancing and air circulation in the post-pandemic era.
The Health and Wellness Shelter project was completed in February 2022 in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, and has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. This accolade acknowledges the design's outstanding creativity and its contribution to improving the quality of life, making it a pivotal development in the field of community healthcare.
