Wang Jingjing's ONEXN Architects Transforms Building 6 into a Diversified Cultural Hub

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Architect Wang Jingjing Transforms Building 6 into The Mountain View

Wang Jingjing's ONEXN Architects has completed the transformation of Building 6, Xiangshan Village, Shenzhen, into a distinctive mix-use cultural complex, The Mountain View. The project, awarded Bronze in A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2021, integrates diversified functional spaces such as a store, restaurant, art gallery, theater, and workspace, aiming to bring people back to the building and reconnect them with the unique beauty of nature.

Around the central courtyard is an open-air veranda, supported by rectangular steel pillars, which links different areas and blends the space into nature. The restaurant floor is covered by various materials including greenery, pebbles, corrosion-resistant wooden panels, and cement, demarcating different functional spaces. The Mountain View spans 6,000 sqm and is located in the cultural and creative park of OCT LOFT, Shenzhen.

Since completion, The Mountain View has hosted drama festivals, lectures, art exhibitions, and events, attracting a large number of local citizens. The project complements the park, providing urbanites with a "slow space" to socialize and interact with nature and art. The design team overcame challenges in optimizing spatial layout and meeting current standards in China, resulting in a safe, beautiful building that fosters a new dialogue between nature and urban life.
