Lei Dong's latest project, Zhongjiao Tianjun, draws inspiration from ancient Chinese folklore and fables, infusing a calming ambience into the sales office space in Tianjin, China, reflecting an eastern sensibility and historical reverence.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lei Dong's Zhongjiao Tianjun project reinterprets ancient Chinese folklore and fables into immersive installations and sculptures within a real estate exhibition space near the mountainous landscape of Jizhou, Tianjin. The interior design features custom furniture, solid wood, stone, metal, and resin materials, reflecting an eastern sensibility and sense of historical reverence.
The space showcases a wall installation replicating the texture of rocks piled up along the edge of the sea and another installation echoing the rhythmic overlapping of fish scales. An interactive mechanical art installation, dubbed Future Paddle, adorns the lobby's pitched ceiling, drawing from mythical Chinese creatures called Kun-Peng.
Additionally, a dynamic sculpture titled the Blue Sea, inspired by the story of Jingwei, combines a bench featuring a gradient of blue and white hues with a parabolic mass of twigs and pebbles, representing unyielding determination in the face of insurmountable odds.
