Erian Yen and Jimmy Chen Unveil Zen-inspired Residence in Taipei City

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Zen and People: A Tranquil Blend of Zen and Modern Humanistic Charm

Erian Yen and Jimmy Chen have unveiled their latest project, "Zen and People," a serene residential space that seamlessly blends Zen aesthetics with modern humanistic charm. The design team drew inspiration from the silent beauty of Zen, incorporating a dark tone complemented by the texture of wood grain and the brightness of terrazzo. The minimalist lines and industrial style add a delicate touch to the residence, creating a tranquil and modern living environment.

The project, spanning 68 square meters and completed in April 2022 in Taiwan, features open bar shelving and concealed cabinets to reduce excessive volume and meet living needs. The building materials, including plaster, glass, terrazzo, and titanium plating, create a variety of visual effects with their different reflections. The curved ceiling design not only reduces pressure but also ensures even lighting diffusion throughout the space.

The design team overcame challenges posed by large beams and disorganized fire ducts, strategically planning a curved turn in the ceiling to hide pipes and maintain the original height. The space is designed to promote relaxation and self-awareness, with a minimalist approach to residential function. The project was honored with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2023, recognizing its outstanding creativity and contribution to quality of life improvements.
