Leo Sun's Muxin Studio Unveils Innovative Reading Space for Children in Shanghai
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Leo Sun, the co-founder of Muxin Studio, has unveiled a groundbreaking project named Sissis Wonderland, a modern reading space designed to inspire and engage children in Shanghai. The space is designed to resemble bubbles, with interconnected areas that encourage exploration and creativity. The project, which covers a total of 108 square meters, was completed in November 2018 and has been recognized with the prestigious A' Design Award.
The design team's inspiration for Sissis Wonderland came from the idea of blowing bubbles, with spaces arranged according to their scales and functions before being recombined and attached. This unique approach has resulted in a multitude of spatial forms and hierarchies, where openness, independence, public and private, interior and exterior are overlapped and interconnected in a creative and pleasant way.
Unlike traditional children's spaces with flamboyant decoration and superficial embellishments, Sissis Wonderland focuses on the shape of the space itself, aiming to turn the environment into a giant toy where children can freely explore, discover, and create their own lively experiences. The use of wood as the main building material, along with the incorporation of green plants, fosters a close connection between the space and nature, providing children with a safe and stimulating environment.
The project's technical specifications include stairs with different heights, bookshelves that also serve as chairs, zigzagging ramps, and mini arches in children's size. These features are designed to accommodate children's scales, allowing them to play and explore without safety concerns. The flowing space design aims to expand children's perceiving and communicating abilities, fostering creativity and imagination.
Leo Sun, a graduate of Donghua University and co-founder of Muxin Studio, has been recognized for his innovative approach to interior design. Sissis Wonderland has been awarded the Golden A' Design Award, reflecting its outstanding and trendsetting design that significantly impacts the world with its desirable characteristics.
