WANG PIN-HO, WANG PIN-SHIAN's Shuttles of Light is a detached house completed in September 2022, offering a wonderful living space for a family of three generations, with unobstructed light and a focus on natural lighting and spaciousness.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Shuttles of Light, a seven-story residence in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, covers 413.7 square meters of indoor space and stands out for its innovative design that prioritizes natural light and spaciousness. The top floor provides an independent living space flooded with natural light, encouraging connection and interaction. The mezzanine level features a retractable floor and floating steel stairs, serving as a beautiful transition between the upper and lower levels, introducing even more light and creating a sense of continuity throughout the home.
The use of lotos paint creates a mineral-like texture on the walls and ceilings, while the floating steel stairs with a strong structure connect the upper and lower levels, introducing light and enhancing the sense of space. The design also includes a spacious living area, a home theater, a window-side restaurant, and a kitchen island, dramatically changing the typical traffic flow indoors and enhancing the independence and interconnectivity of each area.
Shuttles of Light is not only a visually stunning design but also an environmentally conscious one. The suspended staircase allows natural light and air to flow freely between the levels, saving electricity and reducing carbon emissions. The minimalist design concept provides flexibility and easy maintenance, while the use of reservoir sludge, transformed into a waterproof additive, gives the waste a new look in the space.
