Eastern Aesthetics: A Harmonious Blend of Ancient and Contemporary Design

Haihua Zhang, an award-winning designer, has unveiled the Eastern Aesthetics villa, a stunning fusion of ancient Chinese architecture and contemporary design. Inspired by the lifestyle of the Southern Song Dynasty, this villa represents a new eastern holiday lifestyle, blending traditional and modern elements seamlessly.

The villa, covering an area of 1300 square meters, is a testament to Zhang's dedication to blending ancient and contemporary styles harmoniously. The design draws inspiration from the ideal style of ancient literati in the Southern Song Dynasty, with layouts progressively developed along the central baseline and incorporating classical craftsmanship reminiscent of the Master of the Nets Garden in Suzhou.

The villa's splendid entrance leads to a main outdoor area adorned with crafty architectural elements and elaborate ornaments, creating a captivating ambiance. The lighting fixtures along the courtyard resemble flower petals, while the wood rails surrounding the courtyard add a touch of classical charm. The design also features cozy and fashionable garden chairs, symbolizing the contrast of classical and contemporary elements.

It's worth mentioning that the wood walls are adorned by the old draftsmen specializing in Ming style furniture, showcasing superior craftsmanship that brings out the traditional artistry of Suzhou style furniture.

The project, completed in November 2018 in Suzhou, presented unique challenges in blending ancient and contemporary styles in a harmonious way. Zhang's meticulous approach ensured that the design elements intermingle without losing their separate identities, resulting in a truly unique and captivating space.
