Bo Zhou transforms an abandoned automotive repair workshop into a stunning restaurant, bar, and cafe in Shenyang
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bo Zhou, the founder of Jingle Design Company, has successfully transformed an abandoned automotive repair workshop into a multifunctional space, including a restaurant, bar, and cafe, in Shenyang. The inspiration for this design came from the beauty of the mottled old walls within the building, which Zhou aimed to preserve and enhance through his design actions. The project commenced in August 2017 and was completed in October 2018.
The project area is vast, but despite a tight budget, Zhou and his team leveraged the building's inherent beauty, preserving its mottled walls and using rustic materials such as wood and cement to create a harmonious space. The standout feature of the design is the introduction of a skylight on the building, which allows natural light to flood the ground floor area and basement, creating a more visually and emotionally connected space.
The design also includes a ground-to-ceiling high shelf under the skylight, adorned with white clay pots, adding to the aesthetic appeal of the space. Zhou's innovative approach has resulted in a seamless integration of different spaces, allowing guests to move through the interconnected buildings without having to step outside.
Boasting unique features such as the introduction of natural light, the preservation of original building elements, and a seamless integration of diverse spaces, Thankusir Neverland stands out as a remarkable example of adaptive reuse and innovative design.
