An award-winning dental clinic design by Lieh-Wei Liu in Taipei, Taiwan, reimagines treatment spaces as nurturing environments, receiving the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2022.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lieh-Wei Liu's innovative dental clinic design, "Origin," has been recognized with the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2022. The concept behind the design is to create a treatment space that emulates the nurturing environments of life's origin, such as a mother's womb or a plant's pod. The clinic, located in Taipei, Taiwan, offers a unique approach to treating patients with sleep apnea through orthodontia.
The 132-square meter dental space, realized between December 2020 and June 2021, challenges the traditional clinical setting by incorporating elements that provide a safe and relaxing atmosphere for patients. The design team, including Lieh-Wei Liu, Lin Yi-Chia, and Liou Yeu-Yann, utilized curved surfaces and lighting to create a mild and safe environment for both medical personnel and patients.
The project faced various challenges, particularly in integrating medical equipment and personnel into the minimalist space. Through meticulous planning and coordination, the team successfully achieved a balance between rational logic and sensual imagination, resulting in a space that embodies the purest and most abstract design concept.
Lieh-Wei Liu's design, "Origin," stands out as a remarkable example of how innovative design thinking can transform traditional healthcare spaces into nurturing and comforting environments, ultimately improving the patient experience.
