CHINA -- /ARCHITECTURE/newswire -- Nov 26, 2019

Li Zhang's residential apartment design, inspired by Monet's classic series, Water Lilies, brings the dreamy atmosphere and vivid colors of the paintings into a refined spatial language.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Li Zhang's A Touch of Monet

Li Zhang's A Touch of Monet brings the timeless beauty of Claude Monet's Water Lilies to life in a residential apartment. The design incorporates the treatment of light and color from Monet's paintings into the interior, using delicate oil paintings to create a calm and carefree attitude in contemporary life. The 130 square meter property, located in Jiangsu, China, finished in 2019, is a testament to the fusion of art and design.

The interior design features white Volakas marble, white lacquered floor boards, brushed bronze-colored stainless steel, and leather-skinned elements that fill the space with brightness and movement reminiscent of Monet's curves and waves. The living room is centered around a pond-like carpet, creating a visual dynamic of life flowing through and around. The dining area represents flowing water and communication between people, while layered metal chandeliers and curved transparent backs of the dining chairs convey a sense of movement.

The design team, including Li Zhang, Cheng-Yi Chen, and Li-Hua Zhu, has carefully crafted a space that infuses energy and balance, just like Monet's paintings. The project was awarded Bronze in A' Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design Award in 2020, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authenticates experience and resourcefulness.
