FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Seoul's Seokchon Lake Park to Welcome "Interpolation" Art Gallery by ChungYeon Won

ChungYeon Won's "Interpolation" Art Gallery is a groundbreaking architectural project set to transform Seoul's Seokchon Lake Park. The design, inspired by the unique topography of the park, aims to connect the inner and outer ring paths, providing a new entry point and cultural experience for visitors. The winning scheme, awarded Silver in A' Architecture, Building, and Structure Design Award in 2021, is currently under development and is expected to be completed by early 2022.

Lacking amenities for a cultural experience, Seoul City called for a design competition of an art museum within the Seokchon Lake Park. The proposed design aims to provide a visual mark as an entry into the park. The newly introduced interpolating path connects the discontinuous outer ring path and inner ring path, bisecting the site to design a new "gateway" to the park.

The "Interpolation" Art Gallery is designed with fully developable, rationalized surfaces, featuring curved aluminum panels and exposed concrete. The project also includes various sustainability measures, meeting Seoul City's zero-energy code for public buildings. With a site area of 1,396.58㎡ and a building area of 1,543.2㎡, the gallery will offer a unique and sustainable space for public interaction and artistic experiences.

ChungYeon Won's "Interpolation" Art Gallery is a testament to innovative design, overcoming creative and technical challenges while meeting the approval process for buildings located in public parks. The project's completion in early 2022 is highly anticipated, promising to provide visitors and passersby with the experience of art in their everyday lives.
