Mei Hsuan Chiu's innovative sushi restaurant design, awarded Iron in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mei Hsuan Chiu's sushi restaurant design in Taipei, Taiwan, offers a modern take on the traditional Japanese-style nigiri sushi restaurant, catering to young pink-collar workers. The interior design, distinct from typical Japanese restaurants, features a bright and comfortable atmosphere, adorned with circular acrylic sheets in tangerine colors, creating a figurative representation of migratory fishes within the space.
The challenging architectural structure of the building inspired the unique placement of the sushi counter in the central area, enclosing the original columns. The remaining space is creatively utilized with wine cabinets and well-arranged dining seats around the sushi counter, ensuring an exquisite dining experience for customers.
The project, completed in February 2019, showcases meticulous attention to detail, from the delicate opaque and reflective textures of the kitchen's front wall to the diverse dining ambiences that integrate multiple design styles and space functions. The design has been recognized with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2020, celebrating its practicality, innovation, and contribution to a better world.
