Rovya: A Midcentury Italian Inspired Summer Home

Yasmina Makram Ebeid introduces Rovya, a bespoke summer home in Almaza Bay, Egypt, drawing inspiration from the character of the client and the midcentury era of Italian architecture and design. The house marries elegance with drama and comfort, featuring a Gio Ponti inspired flooring and a large flow layout maximizing the opening of the sight line to the sea.

The main materials used include marbles, terrazzo, colorful tiles, and teak wood, creating a bright, eccentric, and luxurious space that also provides the functionality of a family summer residence. The one-story house boasts five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and an open floor plan reception area. The outdoor space includes a sharp rectangular pool with a floating teak deck and a curved bar, perfect for family gatherings and entertaining.

The Rovya is a study in the coherence of flow, function, and flair, designed to be the perfect home for a family that loves to host. The design process started in the winter of 2018, with construction beginning early 2019 and the villa being delivered to the client in the summer of 2020.
