Cheng Yu Hsieh's OWSpace bookstore, a multifunctional sanctuary for knowledge and culture, was completed in March 2019 in Hangzhou, China, offering an immersive experience for book lovers and cultural enthusiasts.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cheng Yu Hsieh's OWSpace is a 2800 square meter, three-story multifunctional bookstore that transcends the traditional concept of a retail space. The design concept was inspired by the idea of creating a sanctuary for knowledge dispersion and discourse, seamlessly blending online and offline knowledge experiences. The space features a ten-meter tall book wall, a concert hall, gallery, and a family-friendly picture book area, offering a diverse range of cultural experiences for visitors.
The design team meticulously crafted the space, ensuring that natural lighting permeates every corner of the three floors. French windows bring in outdoor greenery during the day, while the interior illumination creates the appearance of a captivating light box at night. The warm black color scheme, arched bookshelves, and reconfigured path structures contribute to the bookstore's unique ambiance, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a world of knowledge and culture.
Cheng Yu Hsieh's OWSpace is a testament to the fusion of architectural innovation and cultural significance, earning the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2020. This multifunctional bookstore stands as a beacon of creativity, offering a space where individuals can escape the mundane and immerse themselves in the pursuit of knowledge and cultural enrichment.
