Changching Chien's "Past Precious Times" project, a modern oriental humanities space design, has been awarded Bronze in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2023.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Changching Chien's "Past Precious Times" project is a stunning example of modern oriental humanities space design. The design integrates the appropriate proportion between the entity and the empty area, incorporating suspended standing lamps, chandeliers, and a TV screen hanging around it to enhance the novel design sense of the device in the activity space. The space structure and layout do not deliberately break the basic construction of traditional residence but rather narrows the interaction distance between people and indoor situations, extending the space for interpersonal activities. The color of the log and stone decorative surface is light and gentle, creating a clean and concise residence with a shaped space texture. The project area covers 740 square meters and is located in Dibao, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, China.
In terms of design inspiration, the project aims to bring tranquility into the room, enabling people to complete the natural transition of emotional perception when entering the room from the outside. The design's unique properties lie in its ability to reduce the blocking of light beams, improve the permeability of light from the outside to the inside, and create a comfortable, calm, and non-flashy living experience. The design challenges were overcome by extending the range of the light and shadow intertwined halo, making more details of the space maintain a unified golden color under the light, and strengthening the ancient simplicity that triggers the connection between life and emotion.
Changching Chien, the designer behind this award-winning project, is a First Class Senior Architect from National Cheng Kung University Architecture Institute in Taiwan. With a University Lecturer Certificate and the 2017 Taiwan Architecture Award First Prize under his belt, Changching Chien is known for integrating the needs of users and creating a space field of "sense of time" and "sense of life" with "subtractive design." His core concepts of space design include "architectural characteristics," "Space Poetry," "Flowing Space," and "Less is More." His work blurs the boundary between indoor and outdoor, extending the sense of indoor space to the outdoors, and guiding the outdoor scene into the interior, creating flowing air, filtered light, and a comfortable living physical environment.
