Jack Chen Ya Chang and Angela Chen Shu unveil their innovative lobby design, Liantan Shi, inspired by the serene beauty of Lianchi Lake in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jack Chen Ya Chang and Angela Chen Shu have brought the essence of Lianchi Lake to life in the form of Liantan Shi, a lobby design that encapsulates the tranquility and natural beauty of the lake. The design draws inspiration from the lotus-filled early lakes and the cultural significance of the area, creating a serene and visually captivating space for residents and visitors to enjoy.
The lobby design is characterized by its spatial reshaping, featuring a large sculptural shape that serves as a visual focal point. The space is adorned with a curved wooden texture ceiling, reminiscent of a budding lotus, and a shaft column transformed into an abstracted lotus flower, surrounded by three free-curvature petals. This unique approach to spatial design creates a captivating and immersive experience for all who enter the space.
Realized through innovative techniques, such as the conversion of the shaft into an abstracted lotus flower and the use of fair-faced concrete, the design stands as a testament to the seamless fusion of nature and architecture. The lobby's dimensions, measuring at Width971 x Depth925 x Height582 cm, and covering an area of 92 square meters, further emphasize the grandeur and impact of the design.
Recognized for its exceptional creativity and ingenuity, Liantan Shi was awarded the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2020, affirming its contribution to the enhancement of quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
