Shihi Chou Introduces Innovative Mixed-Use Masterplan in Nanjing, China
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Renowned designer Shihi Chou has unveiled the groundbreaking Honghua Airport District Masterplan, a mixed-use development set to transform the urban landscape of Nanjing, China. Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese design elements, the project integrates modern concepts such as courtyard, mega frame, and pixel infill to create a unique and vibrant urban space.
The masterplan features a "linked activity bar" along the runway park, connecting the north and south areas, with a performance center serving as a focal point for cultural and entertainment activities. The design incorporates diverse building massing, stacked boxes, and innovative façade designs, including an LED glass canopy and "ball" surface to enhance the visual experience.
Utilizing a parametric design tool, the project employs a combination of materials such as wood, stone, metal, and concrete to achieve a harmonious balance between aesthetics and functionality. The site, resembling a checkerboard, presents technical challenges that have been creatively addressed to promote social interactions and a healthy lifestyle for the community.
This ambitious endeavor is expected to be completed within 2-3 years, offering a dynamic and engaging environment for residents and visitors alike. The project has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award, showcasing its innovative approach and contribution to enhancing the quality of urban life.
