Shi Zhe Sun's "Aesthetic Conflict" project, completed in 2019 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, presents a unique blend of modern technology and warm ambiance, shaping a minimalist interior with a bi-polar aesthetics of cold and warm, and hard and soft. The design team utilized titanium-plated metal plates, glass, black metal paint, and aluminum, amalgamated with genuine timber veneer, leather, timber flooring, and wall fabric to create a warm ambiance. The 108 square-meter apartment features an open plan linking the living room, study, and dining area, manifesting a sense of beauty with layers and hidden order.
As conflict is often used as the underlying tone of creative work for its drama without compromises under any given styling, the design team ran away from the conventional styling from material and color to the abstract functional and aesthetics discourse. High titanium-plated texture in contrast to the primal and rustic concrete plank created a stark visual contrast, while the color and line work were installed with a posh factor as a conflict to the harmony process.
Shi Zhe Sun's "Aesthetic Conflict" project was awarded Bronze in A' Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design Award in 2020, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness. Esteemed for incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology, the project exhibits strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements.
