FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kai-Shin Lo, a renowned designer, has unveiled the residential refurbishment project, Light Box, which is a conceptually rooted living space that embodies the representation of light. The project, finished in June 2017 in Taichung City, Taiwan, was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020 for its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authenticates experience and resourcefulness.
The 76 square meters space is equipped with a floating cubic unit that serves as a multifunctional room, glowing right in the center of the space. The room, which includes a pull-down standard double bed, can transform into a workout room, a washitsu to accommodate guests, a guestroom, or an extension of the living room, making it extraordinarily flexible to respond to the family's needs.
Fun Space Interior Design, the copyright owner of the project, massively depends on semi-open techniques and transparent materials, combined with customized wood frames to lift up both the multifunctional room and the main bedroom. The airy, light-weighted, and sleek interior is designed to fit the profile of the homeowner, an IT engineer, a bio-lover, and a faithful Christian, with a palette of blue, black, and shades of grey creating a futuristic tone.
The multifunctional room, with a space of 10 sqm, is lifted up to 40cm, deliberately set to sit on comfortably. The bottom is cut by 20cm inward to keep shoes and slippers of guests, creating a sense of floating on the other hand. The project's highlight is the multifunctional room, equipped with various mechanisms, making it a versatile space that maximizes space utilization in a small area.
The Light Box project overcame several creative and technical challenges, including the space limitation and the diversity of space in the multifunctional room. Through precise calculation and execution, the project successfully created a flexible and functional living space that meets the family's needs and expectations.
With its innovative design and functional features, the Light Box project stands as a testament to Kai-Shin Lo's exceptional creativity and design prowess, earning the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2020.
