A Resort Hotel-inspired Residential Design Completed in Taiwan in January 2022
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kai Yang, an interior designer from New Taipei City, has completed a stunning residential design project called Light Step. The project, located in Taiwan, is a new apartment with a total area of 40.7 square meters on the seventh floor, featuring a bedroom, a living room, a bathroom, and a kitchen. The design team's unique approach involved using different shades of gray and light to create a space that resembles a resort hotel, catering to the client's preference for dark colors and no sunlight.
The design team utilized different grayscale color blocks to present the facade and employed light and shadow to enhance the spatial effect, creating a subtle textured atmosphere. Linear lighting was embedded around the ceiling and facade, producing a vignetting effect that depicts the appearance of a textured space. The use of building materials such as plaster, quartz sheet, laminate flooring, and eco-friendly latex paint contributed to the creation of a high-end atmosphere.
Despite facing challenges such as customizing doors to reach the ceiling and transporting thin slab tiles to the seventh floor by hand, the design team successfully realized the client's vision. The completed project has been recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023, showcasing its practical and innovative approach.
