Kamran Koupaei's renovation project "Number Seven" in Isfahan, Iran, wins the prestigious A' Design Award for Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design in 2021.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kamran Koupaei, a designer based in Hamburg, Germany, has been awarded the Iron A' Design Award for his exceptional renovation project "Number Seven" in Isfahan, Iran. The project, completed between November 2018 and March 2019, involved the transformation of a 55-year-old residential house into a modern living space, blending historical context with contemporary design elements.
The project's unique features include the use of semicircular arches in both the exterior and interior, along with exposed walls and ceilings to showcase the brick texture. Recycled materials, such as wood for the living room ceiling, were incorporated to add sustainability and character to the space.
Despite the tight timeframe of just 99 days for both design and execution, the design team, including architects Elham Azarnasab, Shahrzad Masumi, Negar Moshref, Sachnaz Aghaei, and supervisor Masood Harandi, successfully realized the vision for "Number Seven." The project's use of traditional methods for executing semicircular arches required extensive research and experimentation, overcoming challenges posed by strict urban planning regulations.
Koupaei's innovative approach and attention to detail have earned "Number Seven" the Iron A' Design Award, recognizing its practical, innovative, and industry-leading design that contributes to a better world.
