Chung Chih-Chien's latest project, Le's House, redefines residential design with its unique staggered floors and elderly-friendly living space, completed in Oct. 2020 in Taipei City, Taiwan.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chung Chih-Chien's Le's House breaks the mold of traditional villa designs with its innovative staggered floors, offering a panoramic view and a metaphorical spatial staircase connecting each floor. The 86-square-meter multi-story residence was renovated to create an elderly-friendly living space with a warm, cozy, and bright atmosphere. The "less-is-more" approach was adopted to enhance family connections, featuring streamlined art decor and low-chroma, health-friendly materials.
The house is furnished with natural woody colors, light gray stucco, and soft white coating, providing modern aesthetics with sophistication and simplicity. The storage space underneath the staircases maximizes spatial utilization, offering both functionality and style.
This project distinguishes between public and private spaces, featuring a thoughtful layout that allows intimate interactions among family members while providing individual spaces for solitude. The unique layout posed challenges, particularly in designing the indoor spatial staircase, which was elegantly resolved with the use of metal handrails and wooden steps to create a slim, space-saving, safe, and stable design.
