Shanghai Pudong Architecture Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. unveils Zhao Zhou, a public green space in Haimen District, Nantong City, completed in 2020, paying tribute to Chinese musician Shen Zhaozhou.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Shanghai Pudong Architecture Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. proudly presents Zhao Zhou, a 4.6 ha public green space in Haimen District, Nantong City, China. The park serves as a commemorative landscape space promoting the Jianghai culture of Haimen and showcasing the city's cultural identity, making it a modern community park with dual attributes.
Designed by Xie Weiqiang and his team, Zhao Zhou integrates the dual functions of "community service" and "commemorative green space" while incorporating music elements into the park. The park follows the urban texture of Haimen District, with roads in a north-south direction complemented by orderly arrays of plants. The project applies the Fibonacci spiral in the composition of its core area and takes music as the theme to create ten scenes, offering visitors a music journey.
The project has transformed existing ditches into an ecological dry stream, adopting the Fibonacci spiral composition to change the flat terrain into a site that is apt to collect rainwater, giving full play to the multiple functions of a "sponge city." Equal attention has been placed on ecological preservation and landscape design, with a variety of plants flexibly used for landscaping. The project also leverages landscaping approaches to achieve seepage, stagnation, storage, purification, use, and drainage of rainwater.
