Renmin Road 1979 Sales Center

Renmin Road 1979 Sales Center, designed by Ye Tian, is a unique project that pays homage to the historical and cultural significance of Renmin Road in Kunming. The road, officially unveiled in 1979, symbolizes the business boom and industrial economic development of the old town. With a focus on urban renewal and upgrading, the project aims to retain the old town's vitality while embracing modernity.

The design approach revolves around the themes of Time, Emotion, and City, interpreting the inheritance from the old Renmin Road and the new urban development. Through the maintenance and reshaping of existing buildings and spaces, the project creates an interdependent community of the old and the new, exploring the completion and cooperation between reconstruction and preservation.

Utilizing environmentally friendly stones poured by cement, mirror-finished stainless steel sheets, and gray cement sheets, the space embodies a fusion of old and new materials, textures, and colors. The design showcases the mixture and collision between the sense of history and modernity, effectively retaining urban memory and cultural symbols with modern design techniques.

This 488-square-meter project presents a space that evokes the emotion of the old town and relives its cultural history and memory. The design concept revolves around reviving an old town, emanating a blooming era, and bringing closer the distance among history, space, and people in the field.

Ye Tian, the design director and co-founder of Merzoom Design, brings over 10 years of rich experience in designing high-end hotels, sales centers, showrooms, restaurants, clubs, and private houses. The project has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2022, showcasing outstanding expertise and innovation in interior space, retail, and exhibition design.
