Ethereal Hair Salon by Jacksam Yang

Jacksam Yang's Ethereal Hair Salon in Taipei is a groundbreaking project that reimagines the traditional commercial space. The design draws inspiration from the harmony of textures, the invigorating scent of woods, and the fluidity of art, creating a unique and immersive experience for visitors. The salon offers a temporary escape from the urban hustle, inviting patrons to indulge in a multisensory journey.

The salon's standout feature lies in its meticulous craftsmanship, natural elements, and the captivating play of curves and lines. The space, covering 133 square meters, exudes a sense of tranquility akin to flowing water, providing a serene ambiance for visitors to unwind and rejuvenate.

Constructed with a fusion of materials, the salon appears as an art installation from a distance but reveals itself as a masterpiece of exquisite craft upon closer inspection. The design team, led by Jacksam Yang and Steven Kuo, deconstructed woodcrafts and textures, subverting the conventional image of a hair salon while infusing the space with energy and aesthetic appeal.

The project, which commenced in October 2019 and concluded in December 2019, has garnered acclaim, earning the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2021. This accolade recognizes the exceptional creativity, technical prowess, and innovation demonstrated in the salon's design, setting a new standard for interior spaces.

Jacksam Yang, hailing from Taichung City, Taiwan, is renowned for seamlessly integrating natural landscape elements into interior architecture, creating spaces that evoke a sense of harmony and tranquility. His work reflects a unique aesthetic sensitivity, transforming popular trends into easily interpretable design languages, and emphasizing the beauty of space and attention to detail.
