Chun Chiao Wu's latest project, "When the Present Meets the Past," is a stunning transformation of an old local restaurant into a modern dining space, blending classical Chinese aesthetics with Taiwanese culinary creativity.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chun Chiao Wu's "When the Present Meets the Past" is a remarkable renovation project that reimagines an old local restaurant in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. Inspired by the style of Suzhou, China, the 198.34 square meter space beautifully captures the essence of Chinese aesthetics, creating a perfect balance between tradition and modernity.
The restaurant's design embodies the spirit of Chinese culture, emphasizing "yin and yang harmony," reflecting the balance and harmony found in Chinese food culture. The integration of traditional Chinese wooden doors and the use of mirrored media creates a visually stunning atmosphere, seamlessly blending ancient and modern elements.
The project, completed in August 2015, posed several creative and technical challenges, including retaining the original building structure while infusing it with Chinese architectural features to transport visitors to the misty and rainy Jiangnan region.
Chun Chiao Wu's "When the Present Meets the Past" has been recognized with the prestigious A' Design Award in 2022, affirming its innovative and practical approach to interior space design.
