Hung Teng Hsiao's Cigar Age project is a high-end custom-made bistro located in the heart of Taipei City, Taiwan. The design concept was inspired by the client's pursuit of a tranquil and charming space that offers a timeless aesthetic experience. The interior features smoky textures, antique dyed leather, and technical control functions, creating a sophisticated and unique atmosphere.
The main axes of the overall space setting are spaciousness and transparency. The high ceiling space design allows independent booths and storerooms to present a layered and changing appearance. Exclusive design for humidity control, corridor configuration, cabinet laminate cutting, and ventilation grill application were adopted to meet the demands of different spaces.
The design utilizes materials such as leather, wood, and black iron, along with retro design techniques, to create a smoky, vintage atmosphere. The space includes an open dining area, a bar area, a wine cellar, a cigar room, and private booths, each allocated with its own function while maintaining consistency throughout the space.
In order to provide guests with a feeling of spaciousness and comfort, the designers used spacious sofas as the main soft furnishing and ensured moderate spacing for layout and circulation. Dark and subdued colors were chosen as the main tone, complemented by red bricks, wood, and dyed leather to create a hazy, retro texture.
The Cigar Age project was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2021 for its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence in interior space, retail, and exhibition design.
