FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

One Shenzhen Bay Staff Cafeteria Design

One Shenzhen Bay, a high-end urban complex in China, is home to the innovative staff cafeteria designed by Yu Qiang. The space, which seamlessly combines offices, residences, hospitality, and commerce, received the prestigious International Property Award. The design aims to disrupt the traditional notion of canteens as humid and sultry environments by integrating fashion, modernity, and rhythm into a simple, open space, making use of the unobstructed seascape and sunshine to reinterpret the concept of the staff cafeteria.

Yu Qiang's design stands out with its unique properties, utilizing a virtual block structure to break up the long, monotonous space and enrich the visual hierarchy with vibrant colors and geometric patterns. The use of vertical gaps and bold contrasts creates a bright and lively focus, successfully reducing visual noise and offering an engaging dining experience.

To meet the requirement of accommodating 500 people dining together, the design focuses on handling dynamic lines and setting up serving access in different areas to avoid congestion. Additionally, the use of mineral and wool panels on the ceilings and walls helps absorb sound and noise, creating a more comfortable dining environment. The design also incorporates wood grain non-combustible panels to achieve A-level fire protection requirements.

An arch-shaped chandelier, beige tables, warm yellow lighting, colorful chairs, and bright colors intersect in concise lines to create a free concept and an organized central dining area. The neat signboard design of the circular island connects different cuisines, and the layered light and shadow contribute to a warm and harmonious dining atmosphere.

Yu Qiang's design for the staff cafeteria at One Shenzhen Bay is a testament to the designer's meticulous research and attention to detail. By avoiding the use of benches and carefully setting the ratio of bar seats to ordinary seats, the design maximizes the utilization rate and meets various dining needs. The project, which commenced in May 2018 and concluded in September 2019, reflects the designer's commitment to creating a space that promotes immersion, relaxation, and a passion for life and food.

Yu Qiang's innovative design for the staff cafeteria at One Shenzhen Bay has not only redefined the traditional concept of canteens but also earned the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2021. The project stands as a testament to the designer's ability to incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
