Chih Hsiu Sung's Space of Light project, a serene and minimalist residential design, was completed in March 2018 in Taichung, Taiwan, and has been honored with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chih Hsiu Sung's Space of Light project redefines residential design, offering a serene and contemplative living space. Inspired by contemporary museums, the design deliberately minimizes external stimuli, creating a tranquil environment that encourages reflection and meditation. The design team meticulously crafted the space to sculpt the luminous volume, utilizing light and shadow to construct a flowing sense of tranquility.
The 354-square-meter interior features a unique interplay of light and shadow, achieved through precise spatial and sequential layering. The design team employed special paint, environmental-friendly materials, imported timber flooring, Italian tiles, Austrian system flooring, and marble to realize this vision.
Contrary to conventional techniques, the design strategically alters beam height to extend light and shadow, creating pristine lines on the walls and adding dimensions to the cool-toned space. The overall design theme, reminiscent of a gallery, accentuates the existential value of furniture and artwork collections, fostering visual extension and continuity.
Chih Hsiu Sung's meticulous attention to detail and intervention of light and shadow elevate the dynamic quality of the spatial influx, resulting in a space filled with simplicity, serenity, and intriguing spatial tension.
