Home Oasis by Avinash Joshy

Avinash Joshy's "Home Oasis" project, located in Aluva, Kerala, India, has been awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2023 for Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. The project, which commenced in November 2021 and concluded in June 2022, involved the transformation of a 40-year-old ancestral home to create airy spaces and vistas, encouraging the passage of light and ample ventilation into the home.

Located on a busy suburban junction of Ernakulam city, the home was revamped to accommodate a family of six members, unifying the entire space and bringing back the soul of the house that had undergone minor renovations over the years. The design philosophy focused on simplicity and creating relatable spaces that bring about a feeling of enlightenment to the users.

The project's unique properties lie in its ability to unify old traditions in a contemporary way, with materials selected to reflect this approach. The oxide of the walls and stairs, the dining table, chairs, and swing are examples of traditional designs integrated into the modernized space.

Avinash Joshy, an IT professional turned designer, aims to bring simplicity and calmness into everyday life through his designs. The "Home Oasis" project serves as a testament to this vision, offering a tropical home with a zen-like ambiance, rooted in the society and environment of Kerala, India.
