Maand Architects introduces the 12th Building, a groundbreaking residential project completed on September 18, 2021, in Tehran, Iran, redefining the relationship between urban buildings and the city.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Maand Architects proudly presents the 12th Building, a revolutionary residential project designed by Parviz Ghasemi. The building, located in Tehran, Iran, stands as a testament to redefining the relationship between urban buildings and the city. The design process focused on creating visual dimension and depth, transforming the elevation into an in-between space that fosters diverse narratives of activities inside the building and life flows in the urban structure.
The 12th Building boasts unique features, including bevels on both sides to prevent the repetition of similar adjacent buildings, creating a dynamic facade by cutting parts of the bevels, and forming full and empty spaces to play with light and shadow. The project successfully overcame challenges such as complying with urban planning criteria, mandatory stairwells, and elevators, turning the weakness of bevel facades into the strength of the project.
With a focus on providing a more suitable building for the area's residents, the 12th Building utilized cost-effective materials, removed side spaces, and increased architectural quality. The project aimed to create a semi-open space in the elevation, allowing part of the residents' life to flow into the urban structure, fostering interaction between the users and the city.
