Marty Chou's Home Design Project Transforms an Apartment into a Fantastical Space
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Inspired by the owner's desire for an ambiguous sanctuary, Marty Chou's "The Mermaid's" project in Taiwan redefines the concept of home. The space, completed in June 2018, is a timeless, sacred gallery that reflects the essence of the elegant lady who owns it. The design, with a focus on minimalism and monochrome palettes, centers around a new collection - a little Mermaid, becoming the soul of the space.
Chou's innovative use of classical molding not only serves as decoration but also as a design tool, creating an illusion of height and unifying visual elements to evoke serenity. The 90 square-meter interior space is transformed into a gallery of the owner's collections, with daily functions and storage cleverly hidden to maintain an optimal sense of airy-ness.
Chou's design balances practicality and fantasy, classical and modern, and decorative and minimal elements. The project, winner of the Iron A' Design Award in 2020, showcases his dedication to the art of clarity and simplicity in architecture.
